The dictionary is supported by the National Parliamentary Library of Georgia.

The project aims at publishing the biographies of outstanding Georgians. We hope that whole Georgia will be involved in filling this unique dictionary.

Biography

ბასილი ვაჩეს ძე იყო XI საუკუნის საეკლესიო მოღვაწე, ქართლის კათალიკოსი დაახლოებით 1090–1100 წლებში. ეფრემ მცირის ძმა. სავარაუდოდ განათლება ბიზანტიაში მიიღო. მოღვაწეობდა შიო მღვიმის მონასტერში. მას ეკუთვნის მნიშვნელოვანი ისტორიული ცნობების შემცველი ჰაგიოგრაფიული თხზულება "თხრობაი სასწაულთათვის წმიდისა და ღმერთშემოსილისა მამისა შიოსთა", აგრეთვე შიო მღვიმელისადმი მიძღვნილი საგალობელი "დასადებელნი წმიდისა მამისა ჩუენისა შიოისნი".
