The Biographical Dictionary of Georgia covers biographies of people who belong to history of Georgia, who are linked with Georgia, lived in or beyond it.

The dictionary is supported by the National Library of Georgia.

The project aims at publishing the biographies of outstanding Georgians. We hope that whole Georgia will be involved in filling this unique dictionary.

Biography

თეოფანე ბიზანტიელის საისტორიო თხზულება მოიცავს 566-581 წლების ამბებს. შემორჩა მხოლოდ ფრაგმენტები ფოტიოსის (IX ს.) თხზულებაში "ბიბლოითეკა". ერთ-ერთ ფრაგმენტში მოთხრობილია სპარსეთის წინააღმდეგ 572 წლის ქართლისა და სომხეთის აჯანყების შესახებ, მოხსენიებულია ქართლის მთავარი გურგენი. აქვე, პირველადაა ნახსენები თბილისი, "ტიფილისის" სახელით, როგორც იბერიის დედაქალაქი. VI საუკუნის II ნახევრის ბიზანტიელი ისტორიკოსი.
