The article refers to the beginnings of Georgian folk dance, which impressed each and everyone having witnessed it even once – in modern times as well as in the first millennium A.D.
Relevant information may be found in the pieces of literature of ancient Roman, Greek and Italian travellers, military commanders, historians and writers. Dance pictures and imprints may also be viewed on different samples, found during archaeological excavation in the territory of Georgia: in Samadlo I – Pythos and Crater dated end of IV – beginning of II millennium A.D.; in Trialeti – silver cup – first half of the II millennium A.D.; Nabagrebi – bronze belts, beginning of the I millennium A.D., etc.
Georgian folk dance fully depicts the history of Georgian nation, evolution of its creative thinking and genetically inherited spiritual and vocal-chorographical culture, which counts hundreds of centuries.
