Predilection to symbolism and mysticism is the characteristic feature of Spanish culture since the period of the "Reconquesta", when the Inquisition – alliance between the church and state, had formed.

It is clear that national features have reflected on the Spanish cinematography and first of all in the Bunuel's film "Viridiana", after display at the Cannes Festival the director was excommunicated from church.

Bunuel has showed the major problems and mistakes into the perception of Christian teachings that inevitably bring the man to moral failure.
