The Epoch and Social Backgroundin Chabua Amirejibi's Novels

("Data Tutashkhia" and "Gora Mgorbali")

Besides constant moral values, each nation has some main idea. Georgia's freedom and integration has always been and still is the main idea for the Georgians. The imperialistic state constantly tried to suppress struggle for freedom, that is why the main idea of freedom was expressed in personal revolt. All this is originally reflected in the creative work of Georgian writers, the example of which is Chabua Amirejibi's novels – "Data Tutashkhia" and "Gora Mgorbali". Nowhere but in these novels a man’s personal protest and his confrontation with the existing reality is expressed more sharply and at the same time more painfully.

In both cases we have to do with the social order based on violence.

Injustice that shaped in the empire turned Data Tutashkhia into a rebellion hero. If the action of the former novel takes place at the end of XIX and at the beginning of XX centuries, the action of the latter novel - "Gora Mgorbali" reflects injustice in conditions of the communist regime. The main character of the novel - Gora is a spiritual successor of Data. His personal revolt represents some kind of protest spearheaded against the political system..

Imperialistic political system and the lawlessness existing in the country arouses protest of any sensible and freedom-loving person, and each of them expresses his attitude towards the regime in accordance with personal morals. Personal revolt of Data Tutashkhia and Iagor Kargarateli is the manifestation of their rebellious spirit and intractable nature. Both characters represent a generalized character of people fighting for morals and freedom. However, it must be said that Data Tutashkhia's character is a more complete one and is made by the author more earnestly.
