Basil of Ancyra was a martyr – priest, who is commemorated on 22 March (28 June). Very meager information about his life is preserved in a metaphrastic work: "The Martyrdom of Basil of Ancyra". This saintly man fought against the pagans and the Arians. Priest Basil was martyred by the order of Julian the Apostate in 362.
