Problem of Independence of Georgia and Soviet Russia (1918-1919)

The article deals with question of the attitude of the Soviet Russia towards the Georgian first democratic republic in 1918-1919 years.

The first Soviet-Democratic (Menshevik) Government of the republic immediately began diplomatic moves and real care for achieving Georgia's De Jury recognition.

In the paper particularly is stressed the definition of the great importance of the Soviet Russia's attitude to the question of Georgia's De jury recognition by Foreign States. As Russia for years used to meet Georgian peoples any strive for independence hostilely and so this act was so received without benevolence and enmity establish good- neighbor relations with Soviet Russia. Georgian Democratic Republic opened its first representation in Russia.

By using of special materials in the paper is shown that Soviet Russia's official persons' negative attitude to the Georgian independence was adequately covered in press, to which Georgian republican press responded suitably.
