The attitude of the Russian central press towards the Georgian-Ossetian confrontation, at an early of conflicts, was a matter of great importance, because the ideas formed by means of the Russian press had a great impact on its numerous readers.

The complicated up going processes given in coverages with purposive comments of a short informational character were published in the newspaper "Izvestia". It should be noted that at the peak of the existing conflicts, some of the informational coverages published in the Russian official newspaper "Izvestia" in December 1989 brought Anti-Georgian spirit in the public whose big part in those days were greatly irritated by the collapse of the USSR and were ready to support any idea which would prevent that process no matter whether it would be against the historical truth or not.

The typical specimen of the coverage is the article "There is one wish – to restore peace" by Soso Baghashvili published in the newspaper "the Communist". It's effect is great, as if you were the real participant of the existing events. The aim of the above-mentioned article was to help to reduce the tension which was quite concentrated.

Perhaps the coverage (in the Georgian newspaper) has more possibility to describe the situation, than the informational article (in the Russian newspaper ) but the difference between the Russian and Georgian interests is obviously noticeable.
