After the end of Russian-Turkish war in 1829 year the part of Georgian historical region Samtskhe-Javakheti was given to the Russian Empire by the Adrianipolian Peace Treaty. About 5000 Armenian families was migrated into Samtskhe-Javakheti.
This migration changed the ethnical situation of this region.
