A distinguished researcher of problematic questions of linguistics Sh. Gaprindashvili is one of the important figures among the heads of the Chair of Georgian Language and literature of Tskhinvali Pedagogical Institute. During his work at Tskhinvali Pedagogical Institute Sh. Gaprindashvili was investigating a Darwa language of the Daghestanian language group.

It's impossible to speak about the problems of scientific research in Tskhinvali not mentioning the great mite of Acad. G. Akhvlediani.

Thus, thanks to the active work of G. Akhvlediani, Arn. Chikobava, V. Topuria, S. Ganashia, Sh. Gaprindashvili, G. Burchuladze and others, from the middle years of the last century, Tskhinvali high school became the hearth of linguistic research of Iberian-Caucasian language group.
