Economical Systems: New Reality and Conflict of Values

In post socialistic Georgia there take place the most difficult and resistant processes of re-appraisement of traditional values to new ones. These processes are characterizing for the society in the transitional period. The deeply qualitative changes having occurred in the social-economical classes of the population are clearly represented by the results of the sociological research conducted by the group of scientists of the Academy of Science, Institute of Demography and Sociological Research in Tbilisi on 15-30 June 2003. The mentioned research evidently confirms that the attitude of the different classes of the contemporary Georgian society towards the fundamental economical values varies. Almost every fifth respondent (18.4 %) prefers living in the Socialistic economical system, every forth one (22.5 %) prefers traditional system, every third (31.4 %) – in times of system of market economy, and every forth and more respondent (28.6 %) could not make their decision. The thought of inquired population about developed market economy, mainly, about the Georgian State being on the transitional stage of market economy, is identically contradictory.

Everything this is partially stipulated by the following factors: unacknowledgement of the principles of market economy by the different classes of the society, lack of qualitatively new political, economical and social institutions, influence of ideological dogmas and stereotypes of the past, etc. These are more or less characterizing for transformation period and considerably stipulate the conflict between the most paramount values. The progress, consolidation and stability of the society and leveling the mental differences will depend on timely and wisely provided harmonization of the conflict between the values.
