In work the attention is emphasized on reasons and effects of sectarian movement of German colonists of Caucasus in 1817-1818 years.

The routine actions of Russian government clearly expressed the ruthless fight of tsarism with sectarianism even in the alien to it religion. The harmful nature of sectarians for the state was well known for the empire authorities, since Russia itself experienced serious difficulties because of ongoing dissent in the Russian church and sectarian groupings emergent on this ground. Hence, the danger of dissention in the Caucasus Lutheran church on the social soil and the rise of sectarian motion there would be the phenomenon only contradicting to Russian colonial policy, and therefore tsarism was ready to protect the unity of Lutheran-Evangelical church. Thereby, Russian empire was presented an occasion to subordinate rebellious German sectarians and it is natural that with such measures it could not be the sincere defender of Lutheran church. To preserve the unity of Lutheran church the Caucasian administration of extended general charter of Lutheran church of 1840 year to the Transcaucasian German colonies.

It is significant that the mentioned charter was developed by German Lutherans in 40-ies with the purpose of preserving unity. By the charter government represented Lutherans a comparatively greater discretion, and as a result of obtaining higher government competence by the German colonies of Transcaucasus religious dissent did not occur anymore. On the other hand, extermination of religious dissent was contributed by rapid improvement in the economic condition of colonists, which was especially appreciable since 50-ies of XIX century and was caused by that improbably exclusive position, which tsarism created for the German colonists in contrast to other ethnic elements living on Caucasus.
