Choreology - is one of field of study of art, which studies dancing art. There were examples of theoretical observation of dancing even in antique epoch. Since that time in parallels with development of choreographic art, there is still a very big interest in aesthetic nature of dancing, its expressional peculiarity and structural construction.
The presage of choreological thinking in Georgia is the records of Greek historians. Later one of the best way of scientific study of Georgian dancing was acquaintance with ethnographic-expeditionary and historical- literature works.
In the 19th century, on the background of special interest in national culture there were many letters in Georgian magazines and newspapers, which were written about dancing practice. At the same period the first professional dancer A. Aleksidze started his activity, who at the same time was a pioneer theorist.
D. Javrishvili takes a special place in the number of explorers of choreographic art and the author of conditional marks and terms of Georgian dancing. Scientific activities of L. Gvaramidze and A. Tataraidze were marked with different kinds of thematic exploring works, the main interest of who was an aspect of historical-cultural study of dancing.
For the present time the process of scientific research of Georgian choreology is very important and actual, which had a solid base in a previous century.
