In Edmond Kalandadze's creative activity portrait holds important place. In his paintings and graphics two variants can be noticed: 1. prominent human characteristics (youth, old age, feminity, masculinity) 2. intensity of individual characterization.

Both in graphic and painting attitude of the author toward the person portrayed is expressed with the forms generalized and manners free.

In E. Kalandadze's paintings the author's major problem seems to do plastic forms in intensive colors.

In his best works he proves to be realistic with modern manner of painting.
