Approximately ten years ago, during maintenance works carried out on the territory of the convent yard, a bronze breast cross with an imprinted crucifixion was found in the depth of 08 m under the ground.
On the basis of decorative-stylistic and comparative analysis it was stated that the cross detes back to the 7-8th century. The cross has a number of specific features such as a peciliar X – shaped colobium (a stylized Greek letter), chrisma in the nimbus of Christ and represents an original version of a Syrian-Palestinian iconographic type of an early period.
