The Database of the Kartvelological Literary studies means creation of easily accessible information bank which will be useful not only for scientific community, but also for the public use too. The database employs special searching engine which provides quick and easy ways for seeking any term that exist in the database.
During electronic editing of existing information the whole series of unexpected problems were encountered. To solve these problems appropriate theoretical judgment and significant increase of input information is required. However, at this point, despite of existing problems, we were able to make following statements:
- According to well established international guidelines for scientific conduct several formats of descriptive information are accepted: A. Resume – Description of the major conclusion of conducted study based on obtained results; B. Abstract-Descriptive summary of the study; C. Annotation – Brief interpretation and explanation of the content. Considering specifics of internet usage which requires providing complete information for users, it is necessary to develop special sincrete form.
- It is known that scientific vocabulary accepted in humanitarian sciences (which obviously includes literary studies) is special by means of its variety and non-fixed character. This vocabulary undergoes frequent changes as the result of terminological parallelism occurring after re-terminological and other similar eternal functioning processes. Therefore, "to decode" or to convert it in more precise "single-digit" form (as in other fundamental sciences) is believed to be an unreachable task.
- For the unification of information production and successful work of searching engine, it's necessary to incorporate the specific lexical layer (terminology) using key-words in all text material. We believe, the selection of these key-words represents most significant problem of this project.
