The aim of the article is to find basis for the archetype "freedom of choice" as the central archetype of human behavior that is reflected in different mythologies and later finds its expression in the works of literature of different epochs and peoples. The archetype may be considered to be central as it indicates the main orientation in the life of a man – that is the choice between the good and the evil. It has all signs of an archetype – it is neutral to the concepts of the good and evil, ambivalent and is repeated in various mythologies.
