The date (time) of the writing of the poem is rather interested, important and problematic. The researchers (Rustvelologists) of Rustaveli's poem had expressed many ideas concerning the above mentioned item. Professor Kekelidze set some quite opposite opinions concerning this problem in his Rustvelological works and we have to take them into consideration while researching this item. Namely, according to Kekelidze the poem might be written after the death of the Queen Tamar, to be more detailed before the 30-ies of the 13^th century. Some of researchers agree to this conception and even develop it. According to the other scholars the poem was written during the Queen Tamar's life period.

The problem of the date of the writing of the poem "The Knight in the Panther's Skin" will be finally decided when we get more reliable and sufficient information, first of all after more profound scientific research of the poem itself.

Nowadays, till getting more reliable references we suppose that the poem "The Knight in the Panther's Skin" was completed in 1205-1207.
