The Georgian literary criticism and history of criticism had often been a subject of researches for the newspaper "Kvali". Its founder Giorgi Tsereteli's contribution is also underlined in "Kvali's" success. It is true that on the pages of the "Kvali" there had been shown a lot of problematic questions. The research of the Georgian folk poetic works is the most important sphere among them. "Kvali" did not start the folkloristic activities with special declaration or program. From the beginning the folklore was presented by a rubric – "Folk Poems". The "Kvali" made the first serious declaration in 1895, when had published Akaki's letter "Like declaration".

The article presents the analysis of polemics of Akaki and Al. Khakhanashvili on the questions of folklore. It gives right evaluation of the positions of both of them. The article also gives the philological analysis of several folkloristic works. There is an attempt of thematic - genre classification. It is true that the researcher analyses the folkloristic questions published in the numbers of the "Kvali" published during three years, but he gives the complete understanding about the aimed problems. The generalized postulates of the researcher are acceptable.
