Gelati translations of Ecclesiasts Interpretation described by Grigol Akrakanteli and deacon Olimpiodor Alexandrian are interesting from terminological or language-stylistic points of view. In the article we draw attention to peculiarities of translation of anthroponims from the foreign vocabulary that was confirmed in the studied monument.

Foreign language forms can sometimes be calques written in Georgian transcription, Georgian meanings of which are often given there. A translator did it in order to point a foreign form and a Georgian lexeme corresponding to it out to a Georgian reader. Sometimes forms taken from a foreign language are forms that became firmly established in lexical stock of the Georgian language and, correspondingly, a translator believes that such forms require no further explanations. There are cases when an author or a translator gives etymological explanation to a proper name, be it a tiponim or an anthroponim. In the monument, in translation of anthroponims, the norms that characterize ancient Georgian literary monuments from this point of view are mainly retained. In the article there considered some cases that indicate departure from this norm.
