The Georgian children's literature has long history and traditions. It originates from folklore. It is necessary to search for sources of the Georgian children's literature in the most ancient epoch of existence of our people. Since pagan times, the Georgian tribes paid the big attention to children, festivals were arranged, and fairy tales and verses for children were created.

In work the first Georgian children's books, also interesting samples of the Old Georgian literature, drawn attention of teenagers ("Martyrdom of Shushanik", "Torture of Abo", "Life of Grigol Khandzteli", "Martyrdom of David and Tarichan") are presented. The heroic and romantic world of monuments of the literature of the classical period ("The Knight in the Panther’s Skin", "Rusudaniani", "Qaramaniani") had special loading.

In work huge value of the foreign centers of the formation promoted development of national culture and didactic-methodical thinking in the 11^th-12^th centuries is shown.
