Cinematography is the newest branch of the art, which has begun in 1895. The first cadres having been made by the first cinematographic, the Lumiers, were shown a year ago. Luckily, Georgian intelligentsia met with great admiration the branch of the 20th century scenes called wonder and a little later made such an unique masterpiece, world cinematography of that time.
The journey "Traveling of Georgian Writer Akaki Tsereteli in the Racha-lechkumi from 21 July to 2 august on 1912", is the first complete documental film, made by Georgian operator Vasil Amashukely.
The merit of the film is that, it is made with such artfulness means as the composition of cadre, the parallel scenes, the horizontal and vertical panoramas and etc. Besides, the picture is also important of the thematic intention. The central figure in the film is one of the leader of the national-liberator movement, Akaki Tsereteli, who stood beside the Georgian people fighting for national and social freedom.
Vasil Amashukeli is considered as a founder of Georgian cinema even today, not only in Georgia, but in all over the Caucasus, because in 1908 he made the first chronic plots and then he continued his activity in Georgia. The little inheritance, having been left by him is invaluable, as the birth and development of Georgian film is connected to his name.
