Pronouns are divided into different groups according to their meaning and function in the Georgian Grammars of the first half of the 19th century. They are differentiated according to the declination. Their classification according to the declination is done just on the basis of semantic groups.
The grammarians of this period (Varlaam Eristavi, Ioane Bagrationi, Ioane Kartvelishvili, Goderdzi Piralov, Solomon Dodashvili, Platon Ioseliani) think that the first and second person pronouns are declined words while modern linguists consider that they are non-declined (Akaki Shanidze).
The relation of the forms of the pronouns "I", "You", "We", "You" with the verbs proves that they are declined. They express their Nominative, Genitive and Dative case forms by means of zero affixation.
