To study the ethno-social condition of the population of Javakhei, one of the important historic parts of South-West Georgia in feudal epoch, has a great, practical and political importance. "The Great Book of Gurjistani Vilayeti" is a valuable source in researching of this problem. The book was written 1595 for the organization of raising the taxes in the provinces of South-West Georgia conquered by the Osmans in the II half of the XVI century.

This book is the important document. We studied only the ethno-social condition of the population of Javakheti.

Research showed that the majority of the population of Javakheti (about 95.18%, by name, patronymic and religion) was Georgians in the period of making "The Great Book of Gurjistani Vilayeti".
