The participation of phenomena of conscious, cognitive nature in the process of person's priority values formation is discussed in this article. It is attempted to define the role of the most fundamental instinkt of self-preservation (which on the human level receives the form of aspiration to the immortality) in determination of individual's world view and motivation. The opinions of various authors on those profound mental changes in the person are shown. These changes are determined by necessity of solution of the most critical existential crisis connected with realization of inevitability of death and which evidently determines the person's priority values.
