According to folk traditions, the Devs having settled at home take an active part in everyday life, fill it with wealth and abundance. However, if they get angry, the situation changes radically. They leave the home cursing and the poverty seizes it, the home gets depopulated and the family wastes away. Hence, people tried to please the evil spirit.
The guileful nature of Dev by functional characteristics is identical with other demonic forces. The folklore of the Caucasian peoples is so rich of various versions of them.
