S. Janashia State Museum of Georgia during 150 years of its existence has accumulated large number of valuable objects reflecting Georgian culture, history and its nature.

The article concerns one of the elements of woman's decoration - the fan. General reasons of its creation, different stages of its development and the basic centers of fan production from the very beginning to present are discussed. Detailed description of the European and Eastern fans of various forms stored in the collections of the Museum is given, the owner references for the majority of fans and photos are attached.
