From the History of Occupation of Egypt by England

Since 50 years of the 20th century in Egypt systematically penetrated French and English capital, which made the serious problems for economics of Egypt. The process of enslaving of Egipt increasess more on its territory by European capital after construction of Suez Canal. In 1875 reign of Egypt, Khedive Ismail sold 44 % of the stocks of Suez Canal Company to the government of England for 4 000 Ј. In May of 1867 England and France legitimated common financial control, which contained all spheres of management. In September 9, 1881 militaries rebelled; the leader was Colonel Ahmed Arabi. Rebelling was partially directed against leadeship of Europeans. In July 1882 England provoked the military incident and bombed Alexsandria from the sea. In september 13, 1882 English defeated Egypt army at Tel El- Kebir and in 14 of September took the capital of Egypt – Cairo. The power was passed to the general consul of Britain.
