Urban and Aesthetical Categories in A. Kurdiani’s Architeture (on the Example of Two Residential Buildings)

The study gives an overview of the role of two still-existing dwelling houses built in the 30’s and 40’s of the XX century (the period of so-called "socialist reconstruction") in the development of the architectural and aesthetic image of two important sectors of the central part of Tbilisi: the beginning of Rustaveli Avenue (former Palace Street) and Baratashvili Street (former Mukhrani Street).

The analysis has proved that in both cases the authors had taken due care of historically specific features of the above streets, the building types for the period of their construction within the limits provided by the architectural requirements of the epoch of so-called "socialist reconstruction".
