The Virgin Church of Dube

The church is the monument of the early period and is located in the environs of Kvareli, on the bank of the river Bursa. The church was well preserved till the 50-ies of the XX century, while it was not blown up. After the explosion the annexe and floor were ruined.

The analysis of the architectural forms enables us to date the annexe: the church is build in the VI century and was considerably reconstructed in XVII-XVIII centuries.

The analysis of the monument also helps to make graphical reconstruction. In 1988 restoration works were undertaken in the central part of the church – east window and cornice, as well as the vault of later date was restored in their initial forms, tile roofing was arranged. The reserved walls of the annexe were stabilised.
