Agreement between the National Parliamentary Library of Georgia and the Swiss National Library

On 20 November 2007 the Memorandum of Understanding was concluded between the National Parliamentary Library of Georgia and the Swiss National Library in Bern, Switzerland. The Memorandum was signed by General Director of the National Parliamentary Library of Georgia Mr. Boris Gagua and Director of the Swiss National Library Madame Marie-Christine Doffey.

Within the agreement, the National Parliamentary Library of Georgia will be granted access to the unique materials preserved in Swiss libraries and archives, including the university libraries of Bern, Basel, Zurich and Geneva, as well as "Mission 21" founded back in the 15th century by Erasmus of Rotterdam. It is in the archives of "Mission 21" that the unique maps and other materials of the 15th-19th centuries containing interesting facts about Georgia of those days are stored. After digitizing all the issues of Le Journal de Gèneve, the Swiss National Library will hand over the full electronic version to the NPLG.
