Leila Abashidze created many both comic and dramatic characters: Juta in Okros biliki (“A Golden Path”, 1945), Nazibrola in Akakis akvani (“Akaki’s Cradle”, 1947), Nino in Gazapkhuli sakenshi (“Spring in Sakeni”, 1950), Marine in Chrichina (“Cricket”, 1954), Vardisakhari in Didostatis marjvena (“The Great Master’s Arm”, 1969), Maia in Maia tskneteli (“Maia from Tskneti”, 1959), etc.: Juta in Okros biliki (“A Golden Path”, 1945), Nazibrola in Akakis akvani (“Akaki’s Cradle”, 1947), Nino in Gazapkhuli sakenshi (“Spring in Sakeni”, 1950), Marine in Chrichina (“Cricket”, 1954), Vardisakhari in Didostatis marjvena (“The Great Master’s Arm”, 1969), Maia in Maia tskneteli (“Maia from Tskneti”, 1959), etc.Leila Abashidze wrote a scenario for the film Koshkebi sduman (“Towers are Silent”, 1978) and for the film produced by herself Tiflisi, parizi da ukan (“Tiflis, Paris and back”). Abashidze is the People’s Artist of the Georgian SSR (1965) and the Chechen-Ingush ASSR (1964); she was awarded the Order of Red Labour Banner (1961); Abashidze won the First Prize as the Best Actress at Leningrad Union Film Festival (1968) and the First Prize at the 2nd World Film Festival in Tokio (1997).
