His first verses appeared in 1924, his first novel was published in 1925, and his first collection of poems, in 1926. Lortkipanidze was a member of the USSR Writers’ Union and a member of the Committee of the Georgian Writers’ Union. His most prominent works are novels: Kolkhetis Tsiskari and Natvris Tvali. Lortkipanidze authored many essays and articles. He also created screen plays for the films Megobroba (1941), Chrdili Gzaze (1957) etc. He translated works by Russian and foreign writers. Lortkipanidze died in 1986 and is buried in Didube Pantheon.
