Prince Alexander Orbeliani – a Georgian poet, playwright, essayist, and historian – was born
Prince Alexander Orbeliani was born to the family of Prince Vakhtang Orbeliani and Princess Tekla Bagrationi in 1802. He was a grandchild of King Erekle II.

Dimitri Mikatadze – a author of the monument, a Georgian sculptor, an Honored Artist of Georgia, professor of the Georgian Academy of Art, Laureate of the Rustaveli State Prize (1989) and State Prize (2003).
Jakob Nikoladze – a famous Georgian sculptor – was born
Jakob Nikoladze was born in Kutaisi, in 1876. He studied at Stroganov School for Technical Drawing (now Stroganov Moscow State University of Arts and Industry) (1892-94), School for Painting in Odessa, (1894-95 and 1897-98), School of Fine Arts in Paris (1899-1901). In his first important work created in 1895 (Peasant from Imereti, clay, lost) was notable for his quest for the expressions of human inner world.

Vasil Barnovi (Barnaveli) – a popular Georgian novelist, publicist, and historian - was born
Vasil Barnovi was born on 22 May 1856 to the family of a priest, in the village of Koda. In his childhood he was taught by his mother, later he studied at the Tbilisi Clerical School and Seminary. 1877 he worked as a supervisor at the Tbilisi Clerical Seminary. 1878 he began to study in the Moscow Clerical Academy, faculty of History.

Alexander Pushkin was born
In 1829 Alexander Pushkin left for Georgia without the permission of the Russian government and arrived in Tiflis on 27 May. He spent about three weeks in Tiflis, got familiar with the Georgian customs, history, culture, and nature. In his essay Journey to Arzrum, Pushkin criticized the colonial policy of Czarism. He sympathized with the talent of Georgian people, the pure life of peasants, and predicted the big future to Georgian nation.
11 June - Moris Potskhishvili was born
Moris Potskhishvili was born in Tbilisi, in 1930. He graduated from Tbilisi State University, faculty of Philology (field of journalism) in 1954. 1959-1965 he worked for the publishing house Literatura da Khelovneba (Literature and Art). 1970 he became a literary consultant of the Georgian Writers Union. 1979-1982 he was editor-in-chief of the Tsiskari magazine, from 1982 – a director of the publishing house Nakaduli.
25 June - The Museum of Akaki Tsereteli opened in his home village Skhvitori
The museum of a famous Georgian poet was founded on 25 June, 1940. It is located in the palace of Tsereteli’s family. In the museum, there is stored 19th century furniture made in Italy and Germany, precious dishes, private library (Georgian, Russian and French publications from the different periods), as well as Akaki Tsereteli’s personal belongings, his and other public persons’ manuscripts.
