International Book Day at the National Library

Several events are planned to be held at the National Library on 23 April, to mark International Book and Copyright Day.
 
On this day, for a few hours, famous Georgian authors will serve as librarians. The most complete collection of The Knight in a Tiger’s Skin will be displayed at the Exhibition Hall of the National Library; candidates from Georgia for two important international prizes will be officially nominated; library week 2012 will open; the Minister of Culture and Monument Protection of Georgia will present bookstores with the books published by the Ministry.
 
On 23 April, from 13:00, Saba Literary Prize Laureates – Givi Alkhazishvili, Diana Anpimiadi, Teona Dolenjashvili, Giorgi Kekelidze, Beso Khvedelidze, Maka Mikeladze, Ana Kordzaia-Samadashvili, Levan Bregadze, Zura Karumidze, Tamri Pkhakadze – will assist readers in the capacity of librarians at Civic Education and Kartvelology Reading Halls. This is a joint event by the National Library and TBC Bank, the founder of Saba Prize.
 
An exhibition will be held at the Exhibition Hall of the National Library at 16:00, to display unique editions of The Knight in a Panther’s Skin.
 
Library week will be officially opened at 17:00. Two children’s authors or illustrators will be nominated as candidates from Georgia for Astrid Lindgren Prize by the jury formed at the National Library. Candidates from Georgia for Dublin Literary Prize will also be nominated.
 
At 17:00, Nikoloz Rurua, The Minister of Culture and Monument Protection of Georgia will present bookstores with the books published by the Ministry. This initiative by the Minister will enable readers to buy the books at comparatively low prices from the following bookstores: The books in Vake, Santa Esperanza, Laterna, Libra.
