The National Library, together with publishing houses, launches a new project at the newly opened Liberty Digital Hall. Every Tuesday and Thursday, meetings with the contemporary Georgian authors, chosen by the publishers are arranged within the framework of the project.
Recently, the National Library has donated books to newly opened Tserovani Library (the majority of users are displaced people from Tskhinvali and Akhalgori), the collection of which still needs to be filled. From 27 September to 18 October, Levan Taktakishvili, Director of the National Library Resources Department and Natia Kobakhidze, Senior Specialist of the National Library Rare Collections Division, visited France within the framework of the project “Chateau de Leuville” Repository Research and Classification”.
The 10th Georgian Stand participation in Frankfurt International Book Fair appeared to be the largest. Almost 23 Georgian Publishing houses and 15 Georgian writers took part in public readings and book presentations.
On 4 October, Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the National Parliamentary Library of Georgia and “Georgian Emigration Hall Friends” by Giorgi Kekelidze, the General Director of the National Library, and Rusudan Gorgiladze, the Head of “Georgian Emigration Hall Friends”.
On 4 October, at the initiative of the National Parliamentary Library and with the support of Georgian Patriarchy, National Centre for Manuscripts and Publishing House Intelecti, 226 books including modern and spiritual literature published in Georgia, will be donated to soldiers and officers undergoing military service in Afghanistan.
