On 29 January, Mirian Khositashvili, Deputy General Director of the National Library, together with the representative of the library administration visited Akhaltsikhe and opened the library in Armenian school.
On 20 January, a professor Merab Chukhua handed to the National Library Department of Science Culture and Civic Education a handwritten order by the first President of Georgia Zviad Gamsakhurdia. The document has been digitalized and it will be included in the fifth volume of the collection to be published within the project “Leaders of the Georgian State-Zviad Gamsakhurdia”.
On 9 January, the winners of Zurab Zhvania Tsinandali premium were announced. Of twenty-four nominees of the premium only eight candidates were awarded. Giorgi Kekelidze’s Poetry 2008-2013 was announced one of the winners.
On 25 December, the book titled Gurian Diaries by Giorgi Kekelidze, a writer and General Director of the National Parliamentary Library of Georgia, was named the most popular and bestselling book at Tbilisi International Book Festival.
Radio Tavisupleba Tbilisi Bureau chief, Marina Vashakmadze, and the Chief Scientific Advisor of Immunization in Caucasian Region, Nino Khetsuriani, visited Marjory and Oliver Wardrop Anglo-American Reading Hall of the National Library.
The Library Museum will be opened in Gurieli Reading Hall of the National Parliamentary Library of Georgia, building II, where archive material depicting work of the National Library as well as photos of its historical building will be on display.
