GEORGIAN HISTORY

"...Where a Georgians comes to..."

by Giorgi Gabeskiria

This book is dedicated to the
3000th anniversary of Georgian statehood

“The Sun is my mother
The Moon is my father
The shining stars
are my sisters and brothers”

Traditional Folk lyric

“Tracing the legends, we appear to be the descendants of an enchained hero whom we owe our hereditary desire to break any shackles. Being a Kartvelian does not signify merely a nationality, but to a certain extent a burden or punishment - and this is proved by our entire history. Yet, at the same time, whether it be a source of luck and pride, Geogian statehood has never been a symbol of slavery, helplessness, oppression or homelessness, wich protected us from provoking either condolence or pity from the rest of the world. Instead, the rest of the world has always treated us as adversaries, partners or rivals”.
Otar Chiladze, 1989

This work represent an attempt to do some research into the studies of the history of Georgia and the Georgians. it is based on written sources, available scientific infomation and is provided with relevant visual material. The book belongs to the popular science genre which makes it equally interesting to experts as well as the general reading public.
