contributor - One of several persons, each of whom writes one or more signed or unsigned portions of a book, periodical, or other edited work. A contribution may consist of an article or column in a magazine or journal, an essay in a collection, a poem or story in an anthology, an entry in an encyclopedia, or one or more terms and definitions in a dictionary or glossary. Contributors are usually listed by name in the front matter or back matter of a book, on one page of a periodical, or in the last volume of a reference set, alphabetically by name or in the order in which their work appears.
