Foundation of the club at the National Library is dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the first edition The Knight in the Panther’s Skin by Shota Rustaveli (the poem was first printed in Vakhtang IV printing house in 1712) and the name of Revaz Siradze, Georgian Scientist, who was the advisor and supporter of educational-literary project “We read Rustaveli” and honorable jury member since 2001.

National Library new edition of the book titled “Kvavilnari” is also dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the first edition The Knight in the Panther’s Skin. The book contains love phrases from the poem adapted to the old flirt game. As the author of the idea of edition Dali Kuprava says, the game is based on love, erotic, glamour phrases from the poem. This revised edition gives younger generation another good opportunity to look through the poem. Love cards are illustrated by artist Mamuka Tavakarashvili, (author of the first illustrations of The Knight in the Panther’s Skin, working at the court of Levan Dadiani, XVII century Samegrelo Ruler). Names of six plants are put on the love cards (the players addressed each others by the names of plants) and no name is repeated. Plant names are taken from “Botanical Dictionary” by Alexsandre Makashvili.

The unique editions of The Knight in the Panther’s Skin from the National Library rare collections will be on display.
