The National Library hosts the exhibition of works by sculptors Shota and Nikolo Meliva at the Exhibition Hall on 17 May 2013, at 18:00. Interesting world of sculptures, distinguished by its content and form of expression, awaits visitors.
Nikolo Meliva has been interested in sculpture since childhood. His early works are depicting his childhood impressions of fairy tales. Nikolo was especially impressed by Georgian fairy-tale hero ‘Natsarkekia’(Lazy Bones).
Nikolo Meliva graduated from Tbilisi State Academy of Arts in 2007, faculty of sculpture. He has taken part in many exhibitions and contests both in Georgia and abroad.
Sculptures by Nikolo Meliva (‘Breeze’, ‘Wind’, ‘Boundless’, ‘Adaptation’) are impressive with forms of expression in terms of multi-directional movement and speed.
Nikolo inherited talent of sculpting from his father Shota Meliva, Tbilisi State Academy of Arts graduate (1983), who has been working successfully in this field for years. Some of his sculptures are placed in different squares in Rustavi.
His recent works are unusual in terms of content and the technique and materials used. The Artist made impressive reliefs with polyester and fiber glass on mythological and religious topics, also according to portraits of famous people including Pirosmani, Rustaveli, Gudiashvii, Picasso, Charlie Chaplin. Creation of sketches took the artist several years.
Glass sculptures (‘Expectation’, ‘Silk Road’ etc.) created using original technique developed by Shota Meliva are especially impressive.
The National Library will host the exhibition from 17 to 21 May. The exposition containing 10 reliefs and 12 sculptures will definitely live up to the expectations of visitors.
