 16/06/2026

On June 16, the National Library of Georgia welcomed students from the public school of Akhaldaba village, located in the Gori Municipality.

The future readers were taken on an educational tour where they explored the Book Museum and learned about rare, early printed books. They also visited the Newspaper and Periodicals Museum to discover the rich history of the Georgian press. The students showed a keen interest in library science, examining historic card catalogs and observing the live process of digitizing vintage newspapers and photographs.

Ketevan Tomadze, Head of the Electronic Resources Organization Division, personally guided the students through the process of archiving and uploading materials into the library's digital databases. Additionally, Giuli Paksashvili, Head of the Conservation and Restoration Division, discussed the intricacies of restoring paper, bookbindings, and photographs, offering a fascinating inside look at the operations of the restoration laboratory.

Educational tours at the National Library remain ongoing, introducing dozens of young people to the daily inner workings of the institution.
