The joint exhibition titled Rendezvous with the Future by the Georgian-born, France-based artist Levan Mosiashvili and French photographer Alain Pizaine will open at the Exhibition Hall of the National Parliamentary Library of Georgia on April 24 at 18:00.
Georgian painter Levan Mosiashvili has been living and working in France for 19 years. His work can be divided into four distinct periods. The artist’s first serious works have been created in Georgia. The source of his inspiration first was Kakheti, the land of his ancestors, and then he became fascinated by Tbilisi. In 2008, the government of France offered Levan Mosiashvili to live and work in their country. He had already won various international art contests; his works were critically acclaimed; his exhibitions were held in France and other countries. Europe had a profound impact on artist’s style and palette. First he fell in love with cubism. For the last two years, he has been interested in ‘philosophical abstraction’.
Levan Mosiashvili’s works are exposed in different countries and are held in private collections all over the world. This is artist’s second exhibition of this scale in Georgia. Now the National Library hosts the exhibition showcasing Levan Moasiashvili’s works together with the photos by Alain Pizaine, his friend.
Constructor by profession, Alain Pizaine is a self taught photographer, who depicted in his works his homeland, France, Africa, islands of several continents, as well as, the culture and nature of Georgia. The main themes of his art are nature, architecture and cities at night.
The exhibition Rendezvous with the Future is a synthesis of Georgian painting and French photography. Levan Mosiashvili and Alain Pizaine came up with the idea of the exhibition while on a journey to the Pyrenees and Caucasus. Rendezvous with the Future is a result of friendship between two men – coming from two different cultures, with different interests and creative impulses, but still sharing the same fascination with both Georgian and French culture.
More than 40 works by Levan Mosiashvili of both Georgian and European period and over 15 photos by Alain Pizaine will be on display.
The event is supported by French Institute of Georgia, companies Nikora and Schuchmann Wines Georgia that will showcase their products.
The exhibition will last until 4 May.
