Exhibition at the Independence Hall of the National Library

On 25 May, the Independence Hall opened in the second building of the National Parliamentary Library of Georgia. The opening of the hall was dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the declaration of the independence of the Republic of Georgia.

The Independence Hall fully restores the events of 1918-1921, displaying the unique items preserved at the National Library such as: the Charter of the King Tamar Legion (originals); the single copy of the 1918-1921 Georgian Constitution (published in Batumi on 21 February, 1921); laws adopted by the Constituent Assembly of Georgia; documents reflecting international relations; Georgian symbols (anthem, coat of arms); draft version of the Independence Act; the original of the Act of Independence; the passport of a Georgian citizen 1918-1921; the card of the Constituent Assembly of Georgia, membership card of the Parliament of Georgia; maps of Georgia, manuscripts and archival materials published in the years of 1903, 1918, 1919, 1921. Among the exhibits is the panorama depicting the cultural life of the 1918-1921 period.

The hall features photographs depicting the Soviet era (photos of cinema, theatre, music, sporting events). The exhibits are located in the symbolic red tunnel installed in the hall.

The photographs depicting April 9 events are also on display. The National Library Independence Hall gives a full impression of the period from 1918 to 1990s. The exhibition is permanent and admission is free.
