Building an all-inclusive online dictionary system has been finished at the NPLG recently. A few already existent dictionaries have been integrated into an innovative system Glossword. Glossword is a system written to create and publish online multilingual dictionary, glossary, or encyclopedia. It is a novelty in the Georgian web space.
The dictionaries integrated into the all-inclusive system with an all-new Georgian interface are: Civil Encyclopedic Dictionary, Encyclopedic Dictionary of Civil Education, Dictionary of Georgian Legislative Terms, Dictionary of Pseudonyms, Explanatory Dictionary of Foreign Words, and English-Georgian Dictionary.
Brand-new for online-users of the NPLG are English-Georgian Dictionary (c. 62,000 entries to the date) and Dictionary of Pseudonyms. For years, work was under way for a dictionary of Georgians’ pseudonyms in Kartvelology Department. The Dictionary encompasses the materials from the NPLG, namely, pseudonyms listed both in printed dictionaries of this kind and in the name indices to books by various authors. The entries are listed alphabetically with a reference to the source and the decipherer.
Civil Encyclopedic Dictionary includes terms found in various books, almanacs and periodicals related to civil education issues.
Encyclopedic Dictionary of Civil Education is based on several other dictionaries: Human Rights Dictionary, Short Dictionary of Gender Terms, and European Convention of Human Rights: Dictionary of Terms.
Dictionary of Georgian Legislative Terms provides detailed information on the occurrence of terms (a piece of legislation and an article therein) in the Georgian legislation.
Explanatory Dictionary of Foreign Words includes foreign language borrowings that contributed to the Georgian art, science and technology vocabulary.
