Book Presentation at the National Library
 21/10/2019

On 21 October, the presentation of the book by Giorgi  Mamulia and Giorgi Astamadze, titled The Georgian National Committee 1914-1918, was held at the Independence Hall of the National Parliamentary Library of Georgia.

A 800-page book publish by the National Library contains German, French, Russian and Georgian archival materials about Georgian political organization and its members who were first to put the issue of the independence of Georgia on the international agenda in the 20th century.

During the First World War, the Georgian and Caucasian issues were introduced to the political and military circles of Kaiserian Germany that laid the foundation for the declaration of the independence of Georgia on 26 May, 1918.

Today, when Georgia fights to defend its territorial integrity, sovereignty, and Western choice, the materials in the book provide a good example of how George Machabeli, Michako Tsereteli, Petre Surguladze, Leo and George Kereselidzes and other members of the Committee defended national interests in the most intractable circumstances.

The book is dedicated to the memory of Georgian heroes of the 2008 Russian-Georgian war.
