The Exhibition Hall of the National Parliamentary Library of Georgia will host a personal exhibition of the artist Ia Mchedlishvili. The exhibition will be preceded by Barbare Mchedlishvili’s (the artist’s daughter) concert.
A psychologist by profession, she has had a passion for painting since childhood. She studied at the faculties of psychology and painting at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University concurrently. Her relationships with Irakli Parjiani and Nunu Tandashvili greatly contributed to her development as an artist. Golden medal she received at an exhibition in the Soviet period was the first stimulus for her.
Working for years as a psychologist and directing the non-governmental organization Children – Future Society did not prevent her from painting.
Ia Mchedlishvili moved to live in the United States along with her family in 1999, where painting became her only occupation. She participated in a number of exhibitions in the country. Her works are held in private collections in the United States, Germany, England and Japan.
The artist will have her first personal exhibition at the National Library after 11 years of immigration. There will be displayed watercolor and oil paintings.
Barbare (Bako) Mchedlishvili’s concert will be held concurrently with the exhibition. Barbare also studied painting until she found out that her real passion was music. This will be her second appearance before the public at the Exhibition Hall of the National Library.
