The public is well acquainted with Jemal Kiria’s works. All of them have been published in different times and places and enjoyed great popularity among their readers.
Jemal Kiria was born in 1940 in the town of Zugdidi. His life was adventurous from the very beginning. As a 4th form pupil he ran away from home. The "escape” part of his life lasted many more years. Trying to run away from the Soviet Union, he was arrested many times on the borders of Turkey, Poland, and Finland. Several times he was jailed and even put to various psychiatric clinics. Finally, he managed to cross the Chinese border, where he lived for ten months.
The author described his adventurous biography in his book Me, Rosinanti (I am Rocinante). His other works are Eskher, Eternal Horseman, Dead House, Three Princesses and a Country Girl,Playing Adult, trilogy Jacob’s Stairs, American notes A Book on Nothing, children’s novel Batsikuku and Three Magicians which was published in the US under the title Boldie.
Jemal Kiria’s most popular novel Eternal Horseman is recognized as the first Georgian fantasy novel.
On May 18, at 17 p.m. at the NPLG Conference Hall the audience will get acquainted with Jemal Kiria’s complete works in 11 volumes.
