Georgian Emigration Museum Founded by Guram Sharadze to Open at the National Library
 28/07/2020

On August 5 at 12:00, the Georgian Emigration Museum will be opened at the Building II of the National Parliamentary Library of Georgia.

The Georgian Emigration Museum was founded by Professor Guram Sharadze at Ivane Javakhishvili State University in 1994. He had decided in recent years that the museum would eventually be housed at the National Library. This was not accomplished in the life of the scientist due to his murder. Guram Sharadze's daughter Rusudan Sharadze fulfilled her father's wish.

With the official consent of the Rector of Tbilisi State University, Giorgi Sharvashidze, and the efforts of Rusudan Sharadze, the Museum of Georgian Emigration is now at the National Library.

The Emigration Museum keeps valuable archives of Georgian political emigrants, complete collections of periodicals, unique books and other important items.

It should be noted that in 2017 Rusudan Sharadze handed to the National Library the private library, archive, furniture and other unique exhibits for opening Guram Sharadze Memorial Cabinet.
