Official Visit of the Polish Delegation

Representatives of the Polish Library Association and various Polish libraries visited the National Library of Georgia. The Polish delegation was led by Izabela Barańska, Chairperson of the Library Association of the Greater Poland Region, and Żaneta Szerškniš, Chairperson of the Poznań Branch of the Polish Library Association.

The delegation was hosted by Konstantine Gamsakhurdia, General Director of the National Library. He delivered a lecture on the history of the National Library, its modern operations, and the extensive Polish heritage preserved within the library's collections and reflected in its architecture.

The Polish delegation expressed particular interest in the activities of the Conservation and Restoration Department. Giuli Paksashvili, Head of the Department, provided the guests with a detailed overview of the specific professional standards and operations of the restoration laboratory.

Additionally, the delegation toured the Book Museum and explored Polish documents preserved within the Rare Editions Collection.

Keti Tomadze, Head of the Electronic Resources Organization Department, presented the digital library "Iverieli" to the guests, discussing the technical details and management of this electronic database.

Strengthening professional ties between Georgian and Polish librarians is of mutual importance to both parties. The exchange of expertise accumulated in Georgia and Poland will continue through future collaborative initiatives.
